I will sing the praise of the Lord was intended for use as a tract. The tract is sung before the proclamation of the Gospel during services of Holy Eucharist in place of the Alleluia during Lent and for other penitential occasions. Tracts are a comprised of a series of Psalm verses—rarely an entire Psalm, but all verses are drawn from the same Psalm.
I will sing the praise of the Lord, that great is the glory of the Lord.
For you have glorified your Name, and your word above all things.
I am safe in the midst of trouble; when I call, you answer me.
I give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing your praise.
